Sync across devices
Opt into private iCloud sync and understand what follows you, what remains local, and how source folders work per device.
Keep library information up to date
Audely can sync supported library information through the private iCloud account signed in on the device. Sync is optional, included with Audely Pro, and must be enabled explicitly. Audely does not require a separate account.
Before enabling sync
- Sign in to iCloud on each device.
- Make sure iCloud access is available to Audely.
- Link an appropriate source folder independently on every device.
- Keep enough iCloud storage available for synced artwork and transcripts.
Turn on sync
iPhone and iPad
Open Settings inside Audely and choose Sync.
Mac
Open Audely › Settings and select Sync.
- Enable Sync across your devices.
- Allow the initial transfer and review the status shown on the Sync page.
- Repeat on every iPhone, iPad, or Mac you want to include.
What syncs
Audely can sync podcasts and their episodes, audiobooks and their parts, audiobook metadata, artwork, notes, podcast transcripts, favourites, played state, listening progress, and supported preferences. Matching information can include original filenames and folder-relative paths, but never an absolute device path. A newly linked device can rebuild the library information before its local audio folders are available.
What never syncs
- Source audio files
- Folder permissions, absolute paths, or device-specific file locations
- Files that are merely visible but not downloaded from iCloud Drive
- A source folder’s podcast/audiobook content mode or pending mixed-folder choices
- The active Now Playing item, play queue, or current playback rate
- The selected Home scope, section order, or section visibility
- Device-specific theme assignments and other local-only settings
Conflicts and deletions
If the same detail is changed on two devices before they sync, the change saved most recently generally becomes current on both devices.
Deleting a podcast, episode, audiobook, or part from the Audely library can remove that library item from your other synced devices. It never deletes the source audio from Finder, Files, or iCloud Drive. Source-folder removal remains local to the current device.
Check status or sync now
The Sync page shows the current status and the last successful sync. Use Sync now after reconnecting to the internet or when you want to request an immediate catch-up. Ordinary changes also sync automatically while sync is enabled.
If the status says Account changed, confirm that you want to use the current iCloud account before sync continues. The local library stays on the device while sync is paused.
Delete synced data
Delete synced data removes Audely’s shared library information from iCloud. Each connected device keeps its local library and switches sync off when it receives the deletion. Audio files are not deleted. Cloud backups are stored separately and remain unchanged.
After deletion, sync is off. Turn it on again only when you want the current local library to become the starting point for new synced data.
If iCloud becomes unavailable
The local library remains on the device. New changes wait locally. Check the status on the Sync page in Settings, confirm the signed-in iCloud account, and retry after connectivity or account access returns.
When your Audely Pro subscription ends, sync pauses without deleting information on your devices or in iCloud. Starting or restoring Pro allows sync to resume.
