Continue where you left off

Audely’s player is designed for podcast episodes and audiobook parts, with saved progress that can move between devices without moving the source audio itself.

Start playing

Choose an episode or part from Home, its podcast or audiobook, Library, Search, or the queue. A podcast’s playback actions can start its latest unplayed episode when one exists, fall back to its latest episode, or choose an episode at random. Selecting the current episode or part toggles play and pause. Starting another item loads its saved position and uses its podcast or audiobook playback-speed preference when one is set.

Choose an audiobook to start or continue it in canonical part order. A brief saved position still resumes the same part. A finished audiobook offers Play again from part 1.

Player controls

• Play or pause the current episode or part.
• Skip backward or forward using the available transport controls.
• Seek by moving through the progress control.
• Change playback speed for the current audio.
• Start a sleep timer to stop after a duration or at the end of the current episode or part.
• Open the queue to review or change what plays next.
• Open chapters when the audio file contains embedded chapter markers.
• Choose audio output for AirPlay, Bluetooth, or another available route.
• Adjust volume through the device’s system output volume.

Playback speed

Choose a speed from the player’s speed control. General settings supplies the default. Show settings or Book settings can keep a different speed for one podcast or audiobook, and that choice takes priority whenever one of its episodes or parts starts.

Under General › Audiobooks, Play button progress chooses whether an in-progress audiobook or part play button shows Time remaining or Percent listened. Audiobooks that have not started or are finished still show their full length. Podcast episode buttons continue to show time remaining.

Sleep timer

Open the sleep timer from the player’s available controls and choose a duration or Stop after episode/Stop after part, depending on the current audio. Cancel it from the same control when you want playback to continue normally.

Progress and played state

Audely saves the current position and completion state in its local library. Reaching the end marks the episode or part as played. You can also change played state manually from the available actions.

For podcasts, Continuous playback controls whether Audely continues through the current podcast after queued items have played. Audiobooks always follow their narrative part order after queued items, regardless of that podcast preference. If the immediately following part is unavailable, Audely stops and reports that the audio is unavailable instead of skipping narrative content.

If sync is enabled, playback position and played state can follow the episode or part across devices. An audiobook’s overall progress and completion follow from the synced state of its parts.

System playback controls

If audio becomes unavailable

Saved progress and library information do not make an audio file playable. If Audely shows Audio unavailable, make sure the file exists and is downloaded, then use Choose Folder when Audely offers access recovery if the folder’s permission or location changed. The episode or part details and saved progress remain available while the file is missing.
