Choose how Audely works for you
Audely keeps everyday preferences together in Settings. Changes apply on the current device unless the setting is included in sync.
Open settings
iPhone and iPad
Open Settings inside Audely, then choose the page you want.
Mac
Open Audely › Settings, then select a page in the Settings window.
General
The General page controls playback and podcast episode-list defaults:
- Continuous playback decides whether Audely continues to another podcast episode. Audiobook parts always follow their audiobook’s narrative order.
- Default speed sets the starting playback speed for audio that does not have a podcast- or audiobook-specific speed.
- Skip forward and Skip back set the transport-button intervals.
- Hide played episodes by default controls the initial visibility of completed episodes.
- Default sort and Default filter set the starting order and played-state filter for episode lists.
- Play button progress chooses whether an in-progress audiobook play button shows Time remaining or Percent listened. Audiobooks that have not started or are finished still show their full length.
A podcast can override its episode order, played-episode visibility, and playback speed from Show settings. An audiobook can override playback speed, but its fixed part order does not use podcast sort or played-episode visibility preferences.
Library
The Library page contains source folders, source scan actions, and local library data. Source folders are device-specific, so changes here do not grant another device access to the same audio.
For folder status, scans, restoring access, and safe removal, see Add audio and folders.
Transcripts
The Transcripts page manages the on-device podcast transcription model, transcript search, and transcript data. Downloading the model, generating podcast transcripts, and searching transcript text require Audely Pro. Audiobook parts are excluded from transcription. Cancelling generation and removing transcripts or the downloaded model remain available without Pro.
See Generate and search transcripts for the complete workflow.
Appearance
Audely Pro includes all Audely themes. Use the device’s system appearance setting to switch between light and dark mode, then return to Appearance in Audely and choose the theme you want for that appearance. The sun marks the light-mode choice and the moon marks the dark-mode choice. Either choice can use a light-looking or dark-looking theme.
Under Home, turn on Hide icon in Home title to hide the Audely icon beside the Home title. This is a device-specific Audely Pro preference.
When your Audely Pro subscription ends, both theme assignments reset to the Magnolia defaults and the Home icon resets to visible. Starting or restoring Pro does not bring back the former themes or hidden-icon preference.
Sync and backup
The Sync and Backup pages manage the two optional iCloud features included with Audely Pro. Sync keeps current library information moving between devices. Cloud backups preserve recent recovery points. Neither feature uploads source audio.
Read Sync across devices and Cloud backups and restore before deleting synced data or replacing a library from a backup.
