Keep podcasts and audiobooks organised

Audely organises podcasts into shows and episodes, and audiobooks into books and parts. Browsing, editing, favourites, notes, and played state belong to the Audely library and do not rewrite the audio files.

Browse podcasts and audiobooks

The Podcasts group in Library contains Shows, Episodes, and podcast Favourites. Podcast ordering can use title or date added. Episode lists can be sorted by date, title, show, or episode number where the context supports it.

Filter episodes by All, Unplayed, In progress, or Played. The current filter changes what is visible, not the saved played state. General settings controls the default sort and filter, while a podcast can keep its own episode order and played-episode visibility.

The Audiobooks group contains Books and audiobook Favourites. Open an audiobook to see every part in its fixed reading order. An audiobook page deliberately has no podcast sort, filter, or hide-played controls.

Search your library

Search can match episode and part titles, descriptions, podcast and audiobook titles, episode or part author metadata, notes, podcast publication dates, numbering, filenames, and folder-relative paths. With Audely Pro, it can also include spoken words from saved podcast transcripts when Include transcripts in search is enabled in Transcripts settings. Narrator and series metadata are not searched directly, and audiobook parts are excluded from transcript-text search.

Search results use content-appropriate actions for playback, queueing, played state, and navigation. Podcast episodes can be favourited individually. Audiobook favourites belong to the whole audiobook.

Customise Home

Home has separate Podcasts and Audiobooks scopes. Each scope keeps its own section order and visibility on the current device. A section stays out of view automatically when that scope has nothing for it to show.

• Podcast Home offers Shows, Continue listening, Recently added, Recently finished, Catch up, and Rediscover.
• Audiobook Home offers Books, Continue listening, Recently added, and Recently finished. The date-based shelves contain whole audiobooks, while Continue listening contains the part where listening should resume.

Hiding or reordering a Home section does not change any episodes, podcasts, audiobooks, parts, progress, or favourites.

Edit details

For a podcast, you can change its title, description, artwork, episode order, played-episode visibility, and playback speed. You can also apply podcast artwork to its episodes. Episode settings covers title, description, and artwork.

Book settings covers title, description, artwork, and playback speed. You can also apply audiobook artwork to its parts. Author, narrator, series, and publication information come from imported metadata. Part settings covers part number, title, description, and artwork. Changing a part number can change the audiobook’s reading order. The whole-audiobook favourite uses its separate action.

Mac also provides bulk editing for fields such as parent assignment, numbering, dates, and other corrections across several items. Podcast-only fields do not apply to parts. iPhone and iPad intentionally keep editing focused on one item at a time.

Add notes

Open an audiobook, episode, or part’s actions to add or edit your own notes. Notes are stored separately from the imported file information and appear on the item’s page when they contain text.

Favourites and progress

Mark podcast episodes as favourites or played from their available actions. A podcast’s actions can mark every episode as played or unplayed together.

An audiobook favourite applies once to the whole audiobook. Individual parts cannot be favourited. Audiobook progress is derived from every part. Before listening, an audiobook shows its duration. While in progress it shows a percentage. It becomes Finished only after every part is played.

Remove items

Audely’s podcast, episode, audiobook, and part delete actions remove library information and preserve source audio. If sync is on, the deletion can move to your other devices. It never deletes the original file from Finder, Files, or iCloud Drive.

A later source scan respects the deleted-audio exclusion. To import that audio again, use Reset excluded audio in Folder information as described in Add audio and folders.

An unrestricted local library

The free tier has no podcast, episode, audiobook, or part limit. Importing, browsing, playing, queueing, editing, and removing library items do not require Audely Pro.
