How to play downloaded audiobook files on Mac
If a purchase or download gives you an accessible M4B, MP3, M4A, or another supported audio file, keep it in a folder you control and let Audely organise it as a book.
Find the audiobook
Locate the file or folder in Finder. A book protected inside another store app needs to remain there unless the provider offers an ordinary audio-file download.
Add its folder
Open Audely › Settings › Library, choose Add folder, and identify it as Audiobooks. Audely scans the audio where it already lives.
Review and listen
Check the title, author, narrator, artwork, and part order, then listen with complete-book progress, chapters, speed controls, and a sleep timer.
Desktop tools without a desktop-media tangle
Audely uses the room, keyboard, and file access of a Mac for the jobs that benefit from them. Edit several library items, classify new audio in mixed folders, filter large episode lists, and make detailed corrections without touching the original files.
Home still stays focused on listening. Podcasts and audiobooks keep independent shelves for continuing, recently added, and recently finished audio, so administrative tools do not take over the experience.

Which version of macOS does Audely require?
Audely requires macOS 26 or later.
Can Audely use folders already stored on my Mac?
Yes. Choose a local folder or one in iCloud Drive. Audely scans supported audio in place and does not move or rewrite the source files.
What can I do on Mac that is not available on iPhone or iPad?
Mac adds bulk editing, table-based folder administration, Scan all folders, batch podcast transcription, and optional transcript generation when new podcast audio is imported.
Can Audely transcribe podcasts on my Mac?
Yes, with Audely Pro. Transcription runs on the Mac after its model is downloaded. Mac can generate one transcript, queue selected episodes, generate missing transcripts, or process newly imported podcast audio automatically. Audiobooks are excluded.
Does Audely work offline on Mac?
Yes, when the source audio is available locally. Files shown in iCloud Drive may still need to download before Audely can inspect or play them.
Does sync upload my audio files?
No. Audely Pro sync can keep supported library information and listening progress current across devices, but source audio and folder access stay on each device.
