Can you play Audible audiobooks in another app?

An Audible download is not normally an ordinary audiobook file that you can add to any player. Audible purchases use Audible’s own account, playback, and device-authorisation workflow, so Audely cannot directly import or unlock them.

What Audible’s Download button provides

Audible explains that eligible purchased titles can be downloaded. On mobile, offline listening remains inside the Audible app. On a computer, Audible directs the downloaded title back through its own listening workflow.

AudibleSync can also transfer titles from Windows to supported and activated devices. That is different from downloading an unrestricted MP3 or M4B file into Finder or Files.

Can Audely open an Audible download?

Not directly. Audely does not sign in to Audible, activate Audible purchases, or remove their protection. It is designed for playable audio files you can access yourself in Finder, Files, or iCloud Drive.

Avoid websites or tools that promise to strip protection from an Audible purchase. Their legality, security, and effect on audio quality or metadata may be unclear, and they are not part of the Audely workflow.

When Audely can play the same audiobook

Audely can use the book when you also obtained an ordinary supported audio file from an authorised source. For example, a publisher or another store may provide a DRM-free M4B or MP3 edition. That separate file can be placed in a folder and added to Audely normally.

Do not assume that buying the title twice creates a transferable Audible file. What matters is whether the source actually provides audio you can see in Finder or Files.

Choose the player before buying

Use Audible when its catalogue, membership, narration exclusives, or cross-device service is the priority. Choose a store that explicitly offers DRM-free downloads when keeping the source file and selecting your own player matter more.
